Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Neste is a  pediatric dentist, specializing in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, and adolescents.

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.

We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their “cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

What is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist?

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. Neste, has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.

Establishing Your Child’s Dental Home

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...

Comprehensive oral health care including acute care and preventive services.

Individualized preventive dental health program based upon a caries-risk assessment.

Anticipatory guidance regarding growth

and development.

Plan for acute dental trauma (emergencies).

Dietary counseling.

Referrals to dental specialists when care cannot directly be provided within the dental home.

Referral at an age determined by patient, parent, and pediatric dentist.

Meet Dr. Kaitlin Neste

Hi, I'm Dr. Kaitlin Neste. I am a Kitsap County native and am so grateful to be serving the community that I grew up in.

I have always loved working with children, so pursuing pediatric dentistry was an easy fit for me. I completed a two-year pediatrics residency at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. During my residency I received extensive hands-on training at the leading children’s hospitals in the Dallas area and was trained by some of the leaders in the Pediatric Dental community. I am an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and the Kitsap County Dental Society.

Preventive Dentistry

This includes proper brushing, flossing and eating habits, ideal fluoride levels and the use of pit and fissure sealants. We strive to provide a fun, educational environment whose children learn about the importance of good dental hygiene.

Restorative Dentistry

This includes children’s fillings, crowns and prosthesis, including treatment of the often devastating nursing bottle decay.  Our doctors are committed to discussing all options before these procedures and answering all questions you may have.  Always working for the goal of a healthy smile is our first priority.

Growth and Development

Dr. Kaitlin is an expert on the growth and development of children's dentition, jaws and craniofacial structures.  Early growth and development evaluation may provide your child with a more positive experience should they need braces treatment.
